Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

PRESS RELEASE

Dual Permeability Measurements in Building Materials

Dual Permeability Measurements in Building Materials

Versaperm has launched a dual purpose machine which can measure both the airtightness and the vapour permeability of building materials, barrier layers or coatings - such as plasterboard, paint or render.  Though both of these measurements relate to permeability they are completely different and have to comply with separate building legislative regulations and guidelines.

Between them, these measurements are key to regulating the environment within the building.   And Versaperm's equipment gives precise measurements at lower costs than conventional testing.

The system can test these materials under a range of climatic and environmental conditions – such as temperature and humidity.  Additionally it allows the user to simulate both diurnal and seasonal cycles under various climate and warming scenarios.

Understanding the ways materials respond leads not just to legislative compliance but also to lower heating and cooling costs and reduced mould growth or rot.  Additionally, it helps users solve the problems of vapour barriers that were intended to stop structures from getting wet but actually prevented them from drying out - which have led to the collapse of several ancient buildings.

Results from the Versaperm's new dual system are typically accurate in the parts per million range and it can optionally measure vapour permeability not just for air and water vapour but also for CO2, hydrocarbons, oxygen and virtually any other gas or vapour.

Versaperm is a world-technology leader and offers not just equipment but also a fast turn-around building products lab testing service
